Our FavouritesThings

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were leanring about the sorts of personal information we can put online. We know that we must keep private information to ourselves.

We also learned how to do a safe search for images on our iPad. We had to make sure we were using the tools to look for "Creative Commons" images. We saved the images and then made an iMovie with them.

Here are some of our movies. Do you like some of these favourites as well?

Kapa Haka & Movie Making

Last week we went to the Kapa Haka festival. We have been practising lots and pots.

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we found photos we liked, saved them to our device and then imported them into iMovie. We videoed ourselves talking about Kapa Haka, our favourite part and how we felt when we were preforming.

Here are some of our movies...

Being Sunsmart & Movie Making

We are leanring how to be Sunsmart this term. We all wear hats at school and our school has shade sails over play areas so we can sit and play safely. What do you do to be Sunsmart?

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we used iMovie to create movies about "Being Sunsmart".

Here are some of our movies...

Pop Art

This week were were creating our own Pop Art with the camera app on our iPad. We know that smart learners create original images and media.IF we create it - we own it and can use it anywhere.

We started by taking a selfie. We had to learn how to duplicate our selfie 3 times. Then we used the editing tools in Photos on our iPad to make 3 versions of our selfie.

We found out how to draw on the photo, add text, add shapes and the really fun bit of adding a magnifier.

Here is Nivayah's collage with her 4 photos. Can you work out how she has changed each photo?

Here is a collage of Jackson's 4 photos...

We had to find the blog post, tap on "Reply here" and then use our microphone to dictate our comment.

Fairy Tales in Scratch Jnr.

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we were using Scratch Jnr to code a Fairy Tale.

Scratch Jnr is a free app for your tablet or iPad where you can program your own interactive stories and games. While we are doing this we are learning to solve problems, design projects, and express ourselves creatively. Have you used Scratch Jnr. before? We are all new to using it and we were all able to make our first page of our project.

This project will take us more than one lesson to do.

Here is Xavier's work so far...

Counting by 2

Do you like Maths? Room 4 does! Today in our Cybersmart lesson we solved some problems by counting by 2.

We used Explain Everything and had to solve the problems by making the picture to go with the problem. We had to copy, paste and duplicate the images to make the pictures.

Here is Jayce's work from today.

Fairy Tale Puppet Shows

Room 4 have been reading fairy tales. And today in our Cybersmart lesson we started making a puppet show with a fairy tale we know. What is your favourite fairy tale?

We used Explain Everything on our iPads. We made puppets with the characters in the story. We had to learn how to use the scalpel tool to cut carefully around the characters. Then we recorded our voices and moved the characters like in a puppet show.

Do you know who else uses a scalpel? If you have been to hospital and had an operation you will know.

Here is Luca's work from today.

This is a work in progress. Room 4 will finish these during the week.

Making Patterns

Today in our Cybersmart lesson with Mrs Torrie we were learning how to make patterns with shapes.
We had to repeat the patterns in Explain Everything. There were some shapes already on the page and we had to make the pattern underneath. It had to look exactly the same.
We could do it really quickly by duplicating the shapes using the Inspector Tool.

Here is Hunter's work.
Right at the end he made his own pattern. He remembered how to use auto rotate. Wow!

We went over our Kawa of Care today to remind ourselves
of how we look after our iPads.
You can read our Kawa of Care here.
Then we used Explain Everything to show what we
remembered about our Kawa of Care.
We worked in pairs and took photos of our buddy doing the right thing for our project.
Do you use an iPad?
How do you look after your device?

Here is Tylar's work.

Matariki

Today in our Cybersmart lesson with Mrs Torrie we did some learning about Matariki.
We listened to the legend of "The 7 Fishes".
Then we worked on the Explain everything project at our own pace and could use the slide viewer to choose which slide we would do.
Here is some of the work we did today.
Do you know the 2 gods in the legend?
Here they are labelled on this slide

Animations

Today we learned how to create animations.
We used Explain Everything on our iPads to do this.
We had to remember how to record our voice.
We had lots of fun making the last slide with a photo of ourselves. To do this we had to remember how to use the camera app, lasso our photo and then add it to our side.

Here is Alanah's work

Gallery Walk

When we were nearly ready to finish our Cybersmart lesson today we shared our work on our iPads in a "Gallery Walk".
This is where we walk around and look at everyone's
work on their iPad.
then we stand next to some work we like and we say something "thoughtful. positive and helpful" to the person who created the work.

We took a selfie by turning the camera around.
Then we found out how to edit our photo.
